Wilma Johnson, 93, of Carmel, Ind., formerly of Creston, died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind.
Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Pastor Dave Tebbenkamp will officiate.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.
Open visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Wilma Ruth Johnson, 93, of Carmel, formerly of Creston, IA, passed away August 20, 2016. She was born August 23, 1922 in Russell, IA to Walter Dewey and Nora Annette Hixson Sellers.
Following graduation at Russell High School, Wilma attended college and received her teaching certificate. She then taught grades 1-8 in country schools for a few years. Wilma was a homemaker and also worked in the Johnson's Tots and Teens children's retail store which she and Frank owned from 1961 through 1972.
At age 18, Wilma accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior which lifted a burden and changed her life forever. She continued to Praise God through her final days. Wilma became active in church and later she and Frank, her husband were high school youth sponsors for a number of years. Later she taught the junior high girls for several years. Wilma was a founding member of Grace Baptist Church in Chariton, IA.
Survivors include her children; Dan (Cindy) Johnson of Tucson, Ariz., Carol Barnes of Carmel, Ind. and Martha Johnson of Bronx, New York; grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson and Ryan Johnson of Tucson, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Marissa Johnson, Bradley Johnson and Zachary Johnson of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters, Marilyn James and Wreatha Paige of Chariton, Ia. In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Andrew Johnson, brother Harold Sellers and sister Fern Cottrell.
