Steve Miller, 63, of Creston, died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his home in Creston.

Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter. Flag presentation will be by Theodore J. Martens, Creston VFW Post #1797.

Open visitation will be 2-7:00 p.m. Friday, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston, with family receiving friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday.

Steven Arthur Miller was born August 17, 1954 in Creston to Pauline Elizabeth Fry and Clifford Arthur Miller. He was raised in Creston and educated in Creston Schools with the Class of 1973. Steve served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1975, serving on the U.S.S. Pyro AE-24.

On June 8, 1989, Steve married Melody Ann Sickels in Creston. They settled and worked in Creston. Steve cooked at a restaurant in Stringtown, Little Duffer. He did construction for Herman Fry and worked for Easters Grocery Store, before worked at insulating houses for Matura. Most recently, Steve worked for Bunn-o-Matic for 22 years. Steve was a member of Crest Baptist Church in Creston. He was a softball and baseball coach for many years and also umpired for many years. Steve served for 5 years with the Creston Volunteer Fire Dept.

Survivors include his wife Melody Miller of Creston; daughters, Sheryl (husband Brett) Dillinger of Creston; Jessica Miller (significant other Grant) of Des Moines; Stephanie Miller of Creston; sons, Justin Miller (significant other Kim) of Creston; Eric Miller (significant other Shelby) of Corning; Matthew Miller (significant other Dawn) of Creston; three brothers, David (wife Bonnie) Miller of Hemet, Calif.; Don Miller of Creston; Scott Miller of Creston; one sister, Joyce Manley of Creston; two sisters-in-law Brenda Miller of Waukee and Peggy Miller of Creston; 8 grandchildren, Kyle, Haylea and Ayden Dillinger, Jayce, Madison and Jaxson Miller and Tysen and Maggie Miller, and his dog Lucky.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bradford Miller.
