Raymond Chadwick, 98, of Creston, died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday June 23, 2016 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Karen Hoff will officiate. Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, north of Creston. Raymond Roy Chadwick was born December 22, 1917 in Greenfield, Ia. to Nellie A. (Haworth) and Roy Asher Chadwick. He graduated from Orient High School in 1935. Raymond received a scholarship in accounting to attend a Business College in Chillicothe, Mo. in 1937. On September 21, 1940, Raymond was united in marriage to Helen M. Ramsbottom in rural Adair County. Raymond worked for the grocery store in Orient for a short time before moving to Council Bluffs to work for a beer distributor out of Omaha and then did bookkeeping on the Alaskan Highway. Raymond chose to serve his country as part of the Merchant Marines with several different assignments. After being discharged, he began his career as a farmer in 1948 until the mid-1970's. Raymond retired as a Right Away Agent in 1988.
Raymond is survived by his son Terry Chadwick of Creston. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Helen in 2005.
