Obituary

Philip Donald Swanson, "Born on the 4th of July" 1959 in Creston Iowa to Alice June (Huss) and Donald Dean Swanson left our earthly home to join family, friends and our Heavenly Father on October 2, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service, officiated by Pastor Brian Jack, will begin at 10 am Saturday October 7, 2017 at Powers Funeral Home. Hwys 25 & 34 in Creston Iowa. Following the service there will be a visitation with lunch served at The Eagles Club #1398, 300 E. Montgomery St., Creston Iowa. A private internment will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.powersfh.com.

Phil attended Creston Schools from Kindergarten to Graduation in 1977. During his school years Phil worked at the Coop bean plant and a local motorcycle shop. After graduation he moved to Texas to work on his Uncle's farm. Life brought Phil back to Creston where he worked with his Dad in a landscaping business. He met and later married Deb Agans. They moved to Nebraska where Phil worked in the cattle industry. Their daughter, Amanda was born in 1985. Deb & Phil later divorced.

Life again brought Phil back to Creston where he worked for Bunn-0-matic before taking over his father's machine shop. In 2004 Phil met the love of his life Alma. They were married in 2008 and inherited two more daughters, Jeanie & Melissa; two sons Chad & Jason and grandchildren Alex, Aly, Terry Chans, Kambel, Averi, Kaydence and Lillian.

Phil and Alma shared their life to the fullest. Racing, dancing, laughing, and enjoying their family and a cold PBR. In 2013 Phil proudly walked his daughter Amanda down the aisle to marry Stewart Alderson. Amanda & Stewart presented Phil with the apple of his eye, granddaughter McKenna in 2015.

Phil's love of life was evident to everyone he met. He was always positive and happy, his smile was contagious and he had enough love in his heart to fill an ocean. At the time of Phil's passing he was contracted with the U.S. Postal Service to transport mail to rural post offices and enjoyed every minute of time he spent visiting with the postmasters and the residents of Southwest Iowa. Phil Swanson was the type of friend everyone should have.

The impact of his absence will be felt by many: His wife, children, grandchildren and Mother; Brother, Mike (Tami); Nieces, Ashley (Matt) and Alicia; Nephew, Jesse; Aunt & Uncle Carolyn & Gary and many cousins.

Phil was welcomed to his heavenly home by his Father, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends who preceded him.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation
