Maxine (Beaumont) McElroy, 97, of Creston, died Monday November 14, 2016 at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.
Memorial services will be on 10:30 a.m. Tuesday November 22, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Creston. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate the service.
Private family burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery south of Creston.
Open memorial visitation will be Monday November 21, 2016 from 3-8 p.m. at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston, with the family to receive friends from 6-8 p.m.

Frances Maxine (Snyder) Beaumont McElroy, was born September 2, 1919 in Union County to William Allen Snyder and Ida May (DeVoe). Maxine was educated in Spaulding #6 Country School, finishing at Creston Senior High, graduating in 1936.
On November 24, 1938 she married Thomas Beaumont. Thomas later died in an automobile accident January 14, 1952. Maxine was the co-owner and operator of the Creston Cleaners for several years. She worked as a clerk at the Union County Auditors office, then at the Agricultural Stabilization Service, and Union County Treasurer's office, retiring in September of 1984.
On June 22, 1985 Maxine married Kenneth E. McElroy at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. Maxine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Spaulding and then in Creston and also a member of Greater Regional Hospice Guild and Hospital Auxiliary, a fifty plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active volunteer.
Survivors include her two sons, Terry (wife Carol) Beaumont of Sioux City, Iowa and Greg (wife Susan) Beaumont of West Des Moines, Iowa; two step daughters, Margaret (husband Mike) McDavitt of Lake Stevens, Wash. and Mary Tackett of St. Peters, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; a niece Cheri (husband Jack) Davis and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Thomas Beaumont; second husband Kenneth E. McElroy; three sisters, May Custer, Mabel Christiansen and Ruth Jones; a brother, Don Snyder; step-mother, Martha McElroy and a step-son-in-law, Robert Tackett.
