Obituary

Louise Wenzig, 94, of Creston, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 at the Cromwell Congregational United Church of Christ in Cromwell. Pastor Karen Norton and Pastor Mary O'Riley will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery near Cromwell. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Creston Future Farmers of America, for a scholarship in Louise's name. Online condolences can be made at www.powersfh.com.

Theo Louise Wenzig, daughter of Theo Alta (West) Dodes and Frank Jesse Dodes, was born October 9, 1922, in Jackson County, Concord, Michigan. Louise graduated from Washington Gardner High School in Albian, Michigan in 1940. Louise worked in ladies ready to wear and was a legal secretary.

In 1944, Louise was united in marriage to Owen Granger, Sr.

They had a son, Richard in 1946. They divorced in 1953.

On July 8, 1957, Louise married William "Bill" Wenzig in Albian, Mich. They lived in Michigan, Florida, and then they moved to Creston in 1959. Bill adopted Richard in 1959. After moving to Creston, Louise worked as a legal secretary, Deputy County Auditor for Union County and a cashier and hostess for Windrow Restaurant. Louise retired in 1997.

Louise is survived by her son, Richard (wife Ann) Wenzig of Creston; two grandchildren, Teresa King of Creston and Craig (wife Paula) Mullen of Murfeesboro, Tenn.; 7 great-grandchildren, A.J. & Annie Miler and Clint, Jenna, Gabriel, Michael and Luke Mullen; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Bonnie Cochran of Mankato, Minn. and Thad Witt of Creston.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill in 1992; 4 brothers, Dale, Roy, Rex and Junior Dodes; 4 sisters, Marjorie Ravenscraft, Mary Briggs, Florence Stimer and Shirley James and special friend Sherman Braman.
