Kevin Sharp, 41, of Creston died March 15, 2018 in Tulum, Mexico.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Southwestern Community College Gymnasium in Creston. Pastor Mary O'Riley and Pastor Rick Titus will officiate.

Burial will be private at Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston.

Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 30 at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Ave. in Creston. No family night is scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are for a SWCC Scholarship, the Creston Basketball Association, the Creston Softball & Baseball League, the Padded Football League, the Creston Brownie Troop 971 and the Creston Boy Scouts. Online condolences can be given at

Kevin Wayne Sharp was born on November 1, 1976, in Creston, a son to Ken Sharp and Carol Lynn (Bailey) Sharp. He graduated from Creston High School and from University of Iowa with a degree in Business Finance. During college, Kevin sold Cutco Cutlery, earning top salesman his first summer, thanks to the Creston community.
Kevin was united in marriage to Amy Marie Major on June 23, 2001, in Las Vegas, with their families present. Kevin worked at Morgan Stanley in Des Moines as an investment advisor/ broker then at Principal Finance as a 401k Retirement Specialist. They moved to Creston, where Kevin work at the family business of Southwest Distributing Company serving as the Treasurer and Sales Manager.

Kevin was a member of the Cromwell Congregational United Church of Christ, Creston Elks Lodge, Creston Eagles Lodge, Whitetails Unlimited, the High Lake Gun Club, Crestmoor Golf Club and on the Board of Directors of the Iowa Beer Wholesalers. Kevin coached baseball, football and basketball.
Kevin was a fan of racing and drove car #2 at the Adams County Speedway in Corning, where he had been a former board member.

Kevin is survived by his parents Ken and Carol of Creston; sister Amy (husband Chris) Kralik of Creston; brother Kurtis (wife Naomi) Sharp; nephews, Cael Kralik, Ryder and Easton Sharp; niece Jacy Kralik; uncles, Mark (Mary) Sharp, Gary (Val) Bailey, Larry (Kelsey) Bailey and Greg (Mindy) Bailey, all of Creston; an aunt, Chris Bailey of Des Moines, their dog, Buster, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lowell and Betty Sharp and Paul and Verna Bailey, aunt Marcena Bailey, uncle Steve Sharp, cousin Trent Sharp and their dog, Thunder.
