Jim Webb, 76, of Creston, died Friday, October 14, 2016 at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 7 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 and 25 in Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends 6 to 7 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Care Initiative Hospice or to the family. James Weldon Webb was born October 5, 1940 in Ringgold, Co., IA. to Weldon Fredrick Webb and Mildred Louise Newbern. He graduated from Creston High School in 1960. On February 21, 1970 Jim was united in marriage to Sandy Jo Slorah in Creston. He worked for the Creston Purolator and also ran a filling station before being hired by the City of Creston as Maintenance Engineer, where he worked until an injury in 1990. Jim was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Creston and Des Moines and enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his Yamaha group.
Survivors include his wife Sandy Webb of Creston; son Kevin Webb of Creston; daughter Deb Webb of West Des Moines; his grandson, Tanner Webb of Creston; one brother, Fred (wife Ann) Webb of Canton, S.D.; two sisters, Donna Smith and Arlene Sweet, both of Yukon, Okla., three sisters-in-law Pat Leto of Norwalk, IA.; Kathy Slorah of Carlisle, IA.; and Callista Slorah of Indianola and numerous other family, his Care Initiatives family and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon & Mildred Webb, his daughter in-law Amy Webb in 2015, four brothers-in-law, mother and father in-law, Ardelle (Lee) Slorah and a sister in-law.
