Janis Lane, 79, of Afton, died Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Greater Regional Hospice House-HCI in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. May 25, 2018 at the St. Edward Catholic Church in Afton. Father Ken Halbur will officiate. Private family burial will be at a later date in the Kearney Cemetery in Kearney, Neb. Family will be receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. May 25, 2018, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Afton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the H.C.I. Hospice or St. Edward Catholic Church in Afton. Online condolences can be made at www.powersfh.com.

Janis Louise (Jamrog) Lane, daughter of Delphine Pauline (Budny) Jamrog and Leonard Dominic Jamrog, was born January 1, 1939 in Loup City, Neb. In 1957 she graduated from Ashton High School.

Janis was united in marriage to Duane Lane June 8, 1957 in Ashton, Neb. They settled in Ord, Neb. for a short time before moving to North Loup, Neb. where she worked as a homemaker. Janis also sold Avon for many years. In 1974 they moved to Orleans, Neb. where she helped her husband run a dairy farm. They later divorced in 1976.

Janis moved to Kearney in 1976 and worked as a secretary for Rusmisell, Lowe and Company Insurance for two years, and Kearney Clinic where she supervised transcription work for 15 years. She made the move to Afton in 2015.

Janis is survived by her three daughters, Cindy (husband Tim) Lanik of Hemingford, Neb., Sue (husband Monty) Fread of Kearney, Neb. and Mary (husband Doug) Tucker of Afton; two sons, Steve Lane of Lincoln, Neb. and Dave Lane of Allen, Texas; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom (wife Anna) Jamrog of Waverly, Neb. and Dave (wife Jan) Jamrog of Kearney, Neb. and two sisters, Sandra Badura of Ashton, Neb. and Mary Jo (husband John) Coffey of Raleigh, N.C.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law Roman Badura, Marvin Lukasiewicz, grandson Alex Lane Fread and nephews, Glen Lukasiewicz and Bob Lukasiewicz.
