Dick Baker, 80, of Creston, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in Creston at the Greater Regional Medical Center. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Mary O'Riley will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation, with family receiving will be 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be established. Richard Eugene Baker was born September 19, 1935 in Creston to Mona Mae Hewitt and John Lloyd Baker. He was born and raised in Creston and attended school in Creston schools. Dick served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Dick married Jo (Quee) Noecker in Thayer, IA. in 1963 and one daughter Lori was born to this union. They later divorced.
On August 16, 1972 Dick was united in marriage to Bonnie Lee Ergenbright in Grant City, Mo. He worked for Boortz Wholesale and Bunn-O-Matic until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the South Side Boosters, a board member for Creston Park & Rec and also a member of Union County Sheriff's Posse.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Baker of Creston, two daughters, Lori (husband Robert) Hepp of Cromwell; Angela (husband Chris) Coke of Creston; one son, Doug Frederick of Jonesboro, Ark.; his brother, Larry (wife Phyllis) Baker of North English, IA.; four sisters, Margaret (husband Darwin) Hardisty of Corning, IA. and Shirley Calvin, Catherine Bristow and Sue Baker, all of Creston; four grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Mona, his brother Jack and brothers-in-law Kenny Calvin and Riley Bristow.
