Delores Schieffer, 87, of Creston, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at her home at the Homestead Assisted Living in Creston.
Private services will be Friday, January 27, 2017. Pastor Mary O'Riley and Father Ken Halbur will officiate. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Creston.
Open visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Delores Mary (Schachtner) Schieffer was born October 30, 1929 in Sioux City, Ia., to Frank M. Schachtner and Florence M. (Gute) Schachtner. She graduated from the St. Angela Academy (currently known as Carroll-Keumper Catholic School).
Delores was united in marriage to Vincent Lawrence Schieffer, Jr., on June 16, 1948, at the St. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll, Ia. They resided in Carroll for many years and in 1958 moved to Creston. In 1979, they moved to Panora where she worked as a CNA. Later they moved to Kent where they retired. Delores was primarily a homemaker and took pride in raising their seven children.
Delores was a member at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and helped at the re-run in Creston.
Survivors include her husband Vince Schieffer of Creston, five sons, Tom (wife Debbie) Schieffer of Waukee, Steve (wife Diane) Schieffer of Creston, Scott (wife Colleen) Schieffer of La Crosse, Wis., Terry (wife Julie) of Creston and Mark (wife Alice) Schieffer of Maryville, Mo.; two daughters, Jane (husband Kevin) Mahan of Creston and Jodi Mobley of Creston; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Duckworth of Springfield, Mo. and Lorraine Schieffer of Shawnee, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Duane Schachtner, sister Doris (husband Raymond) Sapp and two great-grandchildren Seth Schieffer and Carissa Schieffer.
