Chad Schroeder, 45, of Creston, died Friday, July 8, 2016, in Creston, at his home. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 14, 2016 at the Trinity Lutheran Church along highway 25 in Creston. Rev John Rutz will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Theodore J. Martens, Creston VFW Post #1797. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, in Van Meter. Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday July 13, 2016 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project of the Creston Police Department. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.
Chad Michael Schroeder, son of Linda Lou (Stauffer) Schroeder and Norman Lee Schroeder, was born January 11, 1971 in Creston, Iowa. He graduated from Creston High School in 1989.
Chad went on to serve his country as part of the United States Air Force. He served for thirteen years, during that time he was stationed in Oklahoma City, Colorado Springs, Korea and the Middle East during a portion of Desert Storm.
On June 17, 1995 Chad was united in marriage to Julie Roberts at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston, Ia. They were later divorced. In 2003, after leaving the military Chad returned to Creston and began to own and operate Panther Lanes Bowling Alley until 2008. Chad enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking and biking. Chad was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 129.
Chad is survived by his parents, Norman (wife Linda) Schroeder of Creston; grandfather, Melvin Stauffer of Creston; step-daughter, Chayla Turner of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Dena (husband Aaron) Chapman of Creston; several aunts and uncles; two nephews, Sam and Max Chapman; and many cousins that he greatly enjoyed.
Chad was preceded in death by Grandmother Louise Stauffer, Grandparents Hank (wife Mary) Schroeder and Great-Grandmother Elizabeth Brown.
