Bill Ticknor, 86, of Creston, died on April 6, 2018 at his home in Creston.

Celebration of Life Memorial services for Bill and Marilyn will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at Crest Baptist Church 1211 N. Poplar in Creston. Pastor Charles Spindler will officiate.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society. Online condolences can be given at

William Marvin Ticknor was born on September 10, 1931, in Iowa, to Oran Ticknor and Edna May (Smith) Ticknor. Bill was educated in Shenandoah Schools. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On June 26, 1953, Bill married Marilyn J. Purscell in Grant City, Mo. They resided in Creston then relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where Bill worked as an over the rode truck driver for the Fleming Company of Kansas City, for over 30 years. In 1989 they returned to Creston. Marilyn passed away in 2015. Bill was a member of the Crest Baptist Church in Creston.

Bill is survived by his daughter Peggy Moulder of Montreal, Mo., 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Judy Prentice of Creston.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, his son Jerry Ticknor, a sister Violet and three brothers, Richard Paul and Dean. Bill's daughter, Sherry Lighthill, died one week after Bill's death.
